Steve Duncan and Stephen Morrison-Burke: Spoken Word at Dorchester Arts Centre
What scars did you carve into the hearts of those that loved you? Friday night brought blessings and story telling from the city to Dorchester. Steve and Stephen are similar not just by name: they quite delicately and accessibly tackled themes of social depravity, love and alienation in contemporary British culture. A night of quick verse, witty rhymes and shrewd observation.
I found Steve Duncan, Bristol born poet, to be so on point with content. Clearly an insightful and experienced guy. His work centres around the prevention of reoffending and engaging communities in particular. Check Diagnosis of the Youth below, performed at the Arts Centre last year.
And Stephen’s use of lively dialogue in his performance worked to reflect moments of human sentiment in hostile times.
